Lovely stay, cleanliness not great but value price

We rented this caravan as private guests (do not using any onsite provisions/utilities) the caravan was well situated and against the field on the door side for even more privacy. The caravan lovingly provided board games which the children with us enjoyed right away and a PS3 with games and film which we didn’t utilise.

− When we arrived the caravan unfortunately smelled of a combination of wet shoes, dog and curry. This did improve with windows being opened for ventilation but would still hit us each time we returned to the accommodation, (There were some plastic air fresheners in the twin back bedroom and one in the main bathroom but they were both old and dry and not fragrant anymore) We did find that the cleanliness standard wasn’t great; we had dirty dishes in the cupboards on crumb covered shelves, the cutlery was also put away dirty, there was food still in the freezer with dirty ice in trays too, there were many cobwebs and dead flies/bugs around the lights and kitchen units. There were drawings on the lounge mirror (a sweet heart shape but we do not know how it was drawn on; spit, breath etc). And generally the table and chairs tacky to the touch. Lastly (and this is no fault on behalf of the caravan but maybe location) the proximity to the farmers field and the unfortunate coincident that they were ploughing/harvesting it at 7am on a Sunday was not all that welcome. However the beds, pillows and duvet felt and smelt clean. The double bed in the main room was comfortable (if a little too firm for my personal liking) but the double bed in the lounge left more to be desired.
