Best place in Bukit Lawang for cosy, friendly stay with fun, local people and nice tourists

We liked everything about this cosy guesthouse! The location was great - no need to walk 10-20 minutes with your luggage as you do many places in Bukit Lawang bc cars could park very near by (but not a trafficed area bc its literally at the end of the car road. More location: You are RIGHT at the start of the national park/jungle trek. + you are in the calm streach between the local village and the touristy area, so 3 minutes walk in either direction and you get to the stores etc. The guesthouse is placed by a calm side-river and its just a beautiful little garden and view. The staff is great and very welcoming. Teddy in the bar and Anna and Baby in the kitchen. We noticed that once people had stayed there or eaten there they came back several times daily. The kitchen was excellent, simpel but fresh and tasty (never any stomach issues) and we had sooo many pineapple juices and fruit platters we sent Teddy to the market more than one for extra shopping. Me and the kids took a cooking class for 2 hours with Anna and she showed us how to make chicken rendang, veggie curry and deepfried mashed potatoes balls. The rooms and gardens are well kept and cool looking. Bed felt like new. The place has a lot of personality and theres a guitar you can play etc. Very clean rooms, kitchen, bar area etc. The trek in the jungle was amazing. We had Yusup as guide (and Addi) and we had a fun, hard and amazing day watching a lot of orangutans with them. They know their stuff, so trust them when they say wait etc. The guides made a huge fruit spread in the jungle and brought a very nice nasi goreng lunch for us as well. Great wifi! Teen approved! I am SO happy we booked here. It is extremely value for money and the return rate of people coming back to this place after their jungle trek to eat (bc it was fully booked) was big.

− Don’t know if I could have borrowed a haidryer. It wasn’t in the room and my hair takes a long time to dry. But didn”t ask, so maybe its available? I don’t like sharing blankets at night and there was only one blanket pr double bed. I borrowed my sons who didn’t need his. So didn’t ask for my own, so don’t know if its possible to get an extra. Make the guest more aware of all the activities you can book at the place. ;-)

− Bukit Lawang has a tropical climate. A fan helps to cool down a bit. Ideally a airco but I understand the power is limited here

The room was cozy, the bar and the garden have a really nice vibe, the food was delicious and the staff was really helpful and nice. Teddy helped me a lot with arrangements, booking tours etc, he was very responsive, before my arrival I had many questions. I highly recommend this lodge!

We really enjoyed our stay and will take home unforgettable memories. Upon our arrival, Teddy welcomed us with a refreshing welcome drink, which was a lovely start to our stay. From the very beginning until the end, the whole team took great care of us and fulfilled every wish we had, making us feel truly welcome and at home. The highlight of our trip was definitely the jungle trek. Our guides, Yusup and Rido, were absolutely fantastic. Thanks to their experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm, they gave us an incredible jungle experience that we will never forget. They made sure we had an amazing adventure and created memories that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you to Teddy, Yusup, Rido, and the entire team for the excellent care and hospitality. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Incredible stay in Bukit Lawang

I had an amazing stay here as a solo traveller and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bukit Lawang. Teddy was a fantastic host who made me feel so welcome and helped organise my transport and jungle trek. The food Anna cooked was absolutely delicious, some of the best I had in Sumatra. My jungle trek with Yusef was an unforgettable experience. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole day so much fun. The room was clean, comfortable, and in a beautiful, peaceful location. The genuine hospitality from Teddy, Anna, and Yusef made this stay truly special. I would definitely stay here again!

Las instalaciones estuvieron perfectas para pasar la noche anterior al trekking. Tedi se encargó de que todo fuera acorde a lo planeado: horarios, tour, comidas, traslados. La habitación estuvo impecable y ofrecen un jabon muy rico. El trekking lo hicimos con Imbon, a quien recomendamos mucho también. Una experiencia inolvidable 😍
