Can’t imagine a more perfect place to stay in Venice
10.0In the Dorsoduro district which was in a quieter and much less touristy part of Venice mainland. Property was right on the Zattere (promenade) overlooking the Canal Guidecca which is much larger and again, less touristy than the Grand Canal. There was a small rooftop terrace with table and chairs overlooking the canal and sunset. It was a shared balcony with other tenants but no one was ever up there. Maybe because it was 2 more flights of stairs. But we sat with our own appertivos and watched the sunset which was glorious! There is a church directly next door and the church bells jolted us out of bed the first morning. But we quickly got used to them and even missed them when we left. There was also a washer AND dryer in the complex for everyone to share but again, no problem.
− No one mentions the stairs. There were 2 flights of stairs to the apartment and another 2 flights to the rooftop terrace which we didn’t have a problem with but if you aren’t expecting it or have a problem with stairs then this isn’t for you. No elevator.
Pleasant stay close to the water bus stop
8.0The location is excellent - right next to the bus stop and it is a 20 min walk to the main square. The rooms are smaller than on the picture but generally very clean and nice facilities.
− Mosquitos can be nasty especially when you open the windows. The view is beautiful but we couldn’t leave the balcony door open for fresh air as there were so many mosquitos that quickly became a problem especially in the night. Otherwise very pleasant experience.
