Nice stay in a beautiful location

Location was good, convenient to locations on the east side of the island. The house was beautiful and we loved the gathering spaces, large and pretty bedrooms, and nice showers. We enjoyed the hot tub even though it wasn't very hot. It was great having a washing machine and we appreciated the drying racks since dryers in a washer/dryer combo seem to take forever. It was great having a parking spot, but it was almost never available (luckily the parking lot at the bottom of the hill generally had space). Having a loft upstairs for an extra bedroom was fantastic.

− Kitchen could have been better stocked (could have used another pot or pan and sharper knives). The towels were quite thin. The guitar and keyboard were not really playable, much to our disappointment (we had been looking forward to playing them!). We did not leave food/trash laying around, but by the end of our stay, we were overrun with ants :\

Nice house but not quite as advertised

The house has a clean and spacious living area. It's well furnished, with a roomy indoor and outdoor eating area. It was easy to access using the pin code provided. The host allowed us to check in early which was really appreciated. Nicely kept back garden with a great hot tub and a good sea view from the seating area. Kitchen was well equipped with fridge-freezer, Nespresso machine and a dishwasher, plenty of crockery cutlery and glasses. Clothes washing facilities were good and the air con worked well and was quiet. A bottle of wine was provided on arrival which was a nice touch. The host kept in constant contact throughout the stay.

− While there were many very good aspects to the property there were some elements that detracted from the overall experience and expectations which has affected the rating. Firstly, the property description says 'Porto Bay Villa offers direct beachfront access.' It's on a terraced street very near the coast but there is no direct beach access. The nearest beach we found was a 10 min drive. Secondly, the house is advertised as four bedrooms with two queen and two full beds. There were two queen and one full bed - the fourth bedroom has a sofa bed which wasn't made up. There were enough bedding and pillows in the other rooms for us to make the bed, but we had to look around for it, play with the configuration, and move some things in the room to make enough space for the sofa to open up. When I contacted the host about this, he said that we hadn't requested the fourth room be prepared. I replied that it was advertised as a four bed property why should we have to request a bedroom be prepared? There is no mention of having to make this request on the booking page (there was also an assumption made that we were two couples and a single person - we were 5 singles). He did offer to come and check the room and make the up bed, but we'd already done it by this point. Thirdly, the induction hob kept switching off while in use, this made it difficult to cook which we did at least once a day. Though we did eventually figure out how to work around it, we found it very frustrating - it may be down to non-induction pans not making enough contact to keep the hob working properly.
