1.0− Water leaking through the ceiling and musty smell, no hot water, no air conditioner, dirty mattresses, and rude hosts Nothing worked properly in this flat: There was water dripping from the ceiling, lots of old water stains and a musty smell, but the property managers did not seem to care when we informed them. We had to put towels on the floor to wipe down the puddles. Furthermore, there was no hot water in the apartment. It took the property managers three days to send someone to fix it, and all that time we were only able to take cold showers. The landlady did not have a key or did not give it to the maintenance people, so it was very hard to coordinate as the communication with the landlady was very poor. Even after the hot water was fixed, the shower knob was still broken, so we could not regulate the temperature of the water. It was the middle of a heat wave and the landlady told us the air conditioner was broken. It later turned out they didn’t do the regular maintenance checks and they also said they would charge us extra if the air conditioner had worked (something that was never mentioned before). The mattresses were super dirty and there were blood stains on one of the pillowcases. When we tried to wash them, there was very stinky old laundry (towels and bedsheets) in the washing machine. It made us wonder whether the bedwear had even be changed before we arrived, and we did not want to use this washing machine because of the smell. Furthermore, we were not allowed to use the dryer (there was a do not touch sign). And there were no free toiletries as promised in the description. The freezer was broken as well and the old food in there from previous tenants was very smelly. I wonder how long this food had been sitting and rotting at room temperature. We asked the landlady whether we could leave the accommodative early because of everything that didn’t work and because of the water leakage.
