Haven in a lovely village and the most beautiful countryside

10.0

The cottage was beautifully kitted out and there was a gorgeous garden but as we were there for the music festival we did not have time to use it and we hardly only popped our heads around the sitting room door. We relaxed in the lovely dining room. I could willingly have spent a month there! The rooms are spacious and nicely set out. No detail was missed, milk and porridge for the first night and morning, some biscuits and coffee to enjoy on arrival and a lovely bag of mints that we were delighted with.

Not being able to spend more time there.

Overpriced and strange

1.0

We picked that location as it was the closest place to stay overnight after visiting Cragside House. There is one shop/service station along the road if you need anything & one pub, make sure you book beforehand to guarantee that you get a table. The cottage itself had everything that you would need & was easy to find.

The cottage was freezing cold even with the heating on. It also smelt quite bad, the sofa's, chairs, and bedding etc I didn't feel comfortable at all in this place, felt like we where being watched and had a very strange feeling. I must of had one hours sleep and that was on the chair in the dining room, near the radiator once we had shut the blinds. We honestly couldn't wait to leave. I have messaged the owner and asked if the place is haunted or if they could tell us some history on the place over a week ago but unfortunately I've had no response. 21/07/2025...The owner has finally responded but somehow not to the review I wrote. When we stayed at this property 06/06/2025 it was 8, 9 Degrees Celsius on the night, it was freezing & had been raining most of the day. Why lie about the temperature on your reply. Who on earth needs the heating on if the weather was above 20 degrees. The temperature didn't even reach that in the daytime. Also no one said anything about floors etc I said the bedding, sofa, curtains and chairs stunk. You obviously cannot take any constructive criticism and honesty that you have to reply with dishonesty. I gave 3 stars but have since changed my review due to the dishonesty of the owner

Otherwise the cottage was as expected. The kitchen was well furnished and lounge was comfortable.

The location was perfect for the journey south

The bed linen could have been fresher. In the main room overlooking the main road, the duvet and pillows felt stale

Ideal location to visit Northumberland, with many historical and natural beauties.

9.0

It's a self-catering cottage with all the necessary facilities. We prepared our breakfast using local produces (eggs, bacon, stotties). The location is very nice, close to the river, very quiet despite facing the main road.

Nothing to dislike, really.

Beautiful quite well appointed cottage in Thropton

10.0

The location of the cottage was very nice as it was in a quite town but close to many areas for hiking, cycling and sight seeing. It was an extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated apartment, with everything you would need for a self catered stay. Tahir and Deborah were lovely friendly hosts who responded quickly to any messages. The outside sitting area at the rear of the property was peaceful and a lovely spot for a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

Nothing
