Balai Julian is very well lighted! They provided a hot and cold water dispenser! Location was ideal

− This review is not for Chateau de Chloe. This review is for Balai Julian. We were asked to move to another rental, Balai Julian, because the owner said Chateau was under renovation. Balai is a smaller unit, but since we were pressed for time, I agreed to the switch with minimal research and due diligence. The welcome letter arrived the night of our departure for Tacloban. It stated that our stay will be at Chateau. I got confused. I messaged the property for confirmation, but there was no response. On the way to the airport, I messaged the property if this was a mere oversight. I didn't get a response. So I informed our Airport transfer to take us to Chateau and not Balai. Of course, the check in instructions didn't work because I received the property message to go to Balai when we were already at Chateau! Balai Julian is closer to town. We felt a bit better. This time, the check-in instructions through the gate and the front door worked. We noticed construction was ongoing on another building in the property. That didn't bother us because our tours were for the entire day that started early in the morning and ended up late at night Balai Julian had wide glass windows on the east and north side of the second floor that had no blinds or curtains. We were visible and exposed to the car repair shop, the caretaker's makeshift quarters, and the occupants of the tall buildings around us. Luckily, I found some old posters to cover up one side and taped up some trash bags on the others. We had some sort of privacy. That issue was resolved. I tested the water heater. It wasn't working. I messaged the property, and surprisingly, they sent an electrician immediately. Issue resolved. There was no toilet paper. Not even for our initial use. So, we had to go buy some. Issue resolved. The toilet bowl on the first floor had no toilet seat. The toilet seat on the second floor is mismatched. Oh, well. The rooms had no closets or cabinets.

− I booked and PAID this property last October 21, 2024 for one night accommodation supposed to be last January 25. The booking was confirmed. Until a day before our supposed stay (January 23, 2025), the property CANCELED our booking for some unacceptable reasons. Was so disappointed and angry for I didn’t have the time to book for another accommodation at a different hotel or place. Now the problem is I don’t know how may I get a REFUND. I hope BOOKING would help with this issue.

COMFORTABLE PLACE TO STAY

The unit is perfectly suited to a travelling family like us. The whole place is comfortable such that each of my kids has a bed to occupy. The neighborhood is quiet as well.

− All in all, the place is clean. Just a little comment on the bathroom utilities to be cleaned up more. Also since we are travellers, i always hope to see kitchen towels or kitchen tissues to be available because we are not bringing with us towels for that specific purpose.
