Great Givendale Cottages, Copt Hewick, GB
A spacious and comfortable rural retreat.
10.0Chantry Cottage is splendidly located on the Newby Hall estate just a few miles outside Ripon. We reached it by driving along a private road lined with trees and then between fields of barley. On the nearby wetland we saw herons and egrets while swallows perched on the telephone lines as we walked from the carpark. The cottage was immaculately presented and fully equipped - the kitchen/diner and separate laundry room have premium appliances. There are two 'lounges' - the smaller of which we used as a 'morning room'! The main bedroom/ensuite is large the other 'double' less so but quite acceptable. The third bedroom has a 'large single' and a fine view from the window. There are excellent power showers and also a large bath in the family bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean. On arrival we were welcomed by Shanie and she was easily contactable if needed during the stay. Chantry Cottage is the ideal location for an extended stay in the Ripon area as it has everything one needs.
− The slow rural broadband was occasionally frustrating and it must be highly annoying to people living there permanently. But it worked!
We had such a great weekend and the lovely accommodation was the icing on the cake.
10.0Wonderful location, lovely host, great cottage, beautiful garden.

A wonderful weekend in a delightful cottage.
9.0The cottage was beautifully presented with all the essentials we needed. It was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view from the pretty garden. The snug was a great bonus as we have teenagers who like to spreadout! We were lucky to have some beautiful spring sunshine and enjoyed watching rabbits, squirrels, sheep and ducks whilst sitting in the garden with a drink.
− Although the cottage is not overlooked, it would benefit from a blind for the glass in the front door as it's not frosted. The barbeque area was lovely but it is a walk from the cottage. Instead we barbecued in the garden to avoid carrying everything there and back again and disturbing the neighbours.
Absolutely fantastic accommodation - suited our needs perfectly.
10.0A few days of walking in North Yorkshire with a dog in tow.
Possibly the best holiday cottage we have stayed in, and we’ve stayed in quite a few!
10.0Spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated & equiped
− No loo in the en-suite but that really is being overly picky!
