House is big, but could be maintained better

The code for the door never worked

− Ice maker was broken, door lock didn’t work and didn’t shut completely, lizard defecated around the pool each day (nest under pool deck) Owner should have been more forthcoming about the plumbing issues. Owner didn’t answer questions

It was well positioned for where we wanted to be and enough room for all of us.

− The pool was not able to be used, there was iguana droppings all over the place, around the hot tub, and in the pool, the pool furniture was old and looked brittle and we did not even attempt it because it was a mess and at least one large iguana was in residence which is fine for Florida but maintenance needed to be far more often for the backyard/pool area to combat it. The house itself again was big enough for all of us but oddly made, the bathroom shower downstairs has a dangerous step down and is so close to the toilet that again just oddly built. The other issues were clearly ones of previous renters, we found tobacco snuff tins and cigars all over the place with loose tobacco on drawers despite the no smoking signs, and all of the knives in the kitchen had huge chips in them such that my sister said prior renters must have used them to open bottles, and there were lots of leftover foodstuffs in cabinets and the fridge. the property is fine but I would never call it a mansion and I would suggest a more often cleaning and maintenance of the backyard/pool area especially if that is one of your main features.

The pool was amazing!

− The plumbing was VERY touchy. The toilets seemed to clog VERY easy. Even with very little toilet paper. All the toilets. And it took DAYS to find the plunger. Plus the AC unit would often be set for a warmer temp then I set it to. For example: I'd put it at 69° and no one else would touch it and I'd look hours later and it's somehow changed to 76°. That was annoying. AND there was no dishwasher soap set out.

The large space and location.

− There was a spot going into the master bedroom that had sand or wood residue that might be termites or ants.

A disappointing experience because the home has been poorly maintained and needs basic upgrades.

The spaciousness of the house.

− 2 broken lamps in bedrooms The “game room”, which was an attraction for us , was a huge disappointment. The pool table was decrepit and unbalanced. The ping pong board didn’t have a net. The pots and pans were in poor shape The outdoor area was not well taken care of. The refrigerator water and ice were not functioning. The towels did not absorb water. Need bath mats in the showers to avoid slipping.
