Relaxing and comfortable holiday home next to the sea, not ok for pets on this occasion.

The location was ideal, the views of the ocean were perfect, air conditioning and Wifi very welcome. The apartment contains everything needed for a short stay.

− Although the location of the property is next to the sea, there have been ground works which prevent access to the beach along with a very deep pit covered over with a few sticks, fortunately we noticed and did not have young children with us or it could have been quite dangerous. It's also not possible to swim in the sea, the owner did thankfully advise us early on that us that it's not safe to do so before we tried, there appears to be an issue with the water quality/contamination on that section of the island coastline which was a little disappointing. It's possible to swim in other areas of the island which are not too far away but it was a little unfortunate that it was not possible to walk from the house and swim. We had guests with us for the first night, was a little crowded with more people. We intended to bring our three small dogs as the listing said pets allowed, unfortunately there was an unexpected German Shepherd dog with a little of puppies at the main residence that the annex apartment is part of. It was not safe or suitable to have our dogs present in this circumstance as the female German Shepherd dog was very protective of her puppies and did not like other dogs nearby. We had to send them back home to Ramla after the first night before any incident occurred. Fortunately the German Shepherd seemed to like my wife and I and she was actually a lovely dog, however some of the guests that came to spend time with us were not so lucky and were barked at and felt uncomfortable/had to leave. I'd recommend that the hosts don't take bookings when their dog has puppies and that they remove that pets are ok on the property listing, I don't feel that it is appropriate to state this when there is a large dog already present and free to roam the premises. Overall this did not detract from an enjoyable experience, the host was very friendly and we both enjoyed our week long relaxing stay there.

Marta and Salah, the hosts, were truly amazing. They took us under their wing and were so welcoming. They arranged a sea tour with a fisherman for us, which was wonderful. Everything was perfect, and the front view of the sea is sensational. The place is calm and Kerkennah is the perfect place if you want to disconnect.

The place is not any closer to the ordinary living by the sea. The owners are very welcoming and ready to help and give advice. They went the extra mile, proposing a nice sailing experience on a small fisherman boat. A really different stay, difficult to explain with words.

− It wasn't a turn-off for us, but if you like to swim... Kerkennah is probably not the best place for you. Shallow water, at times for hundreds of metres off the beach.
