Beautifully maintained property; luxurious stay but the remote location could be a challenge to some

7.0

The property was spacious and very well maintained. The views from the property were stunning. We really appreciated the extra care taken to make it cozy. You could tell that the hosts went down to the last mile to ensure supplies of things like toilet paper and towels were in place for when we arrived which made our stay that much more comfortable. All in all really happy with the property.

A couple of points we felt worth mentioning, that impacted our experience: 1) Location - I'm conscious it was my naivety in assuming that the cottage was within comfortable distance of towns like Windermere, and Ambleside and looking back at the description, I can see that it lays emphasis on the rural elements of the Lake district but I do think a little bit more could be done to ensure guests understand distances from the main towns before going ahead and booking the property. For someone not used to driving in the mountains, it was a challenging trip up and down to the towns on a daily basis. 2) Heating - we were disappointed that we couldn't turn up the heating at all. I understand that the heat pump tech remains largely switched off during the summer, but the the evenings were quite chilly on a couple of days and this was a downer for us sadly. 3) EV charger - I could have done with a little bit more flexibility with the constraints around charging. The timings of 12:30 to 4:30 just meant that I didn't use the facility at all. In the future, perhaps the owners of the property could find a way to charge guests in advance (or charge back at the end of their stay) for the use of the charger, even if that meant using energy at standard rates? As a guest I would have gladly paid a bit more to use the facility at a comfortable time to charge my tiny 12 KW battery. Luckily I have a hybrid car so I could get by but I can imagine this being an issue for an EV driver. 4) Outside garden - As a family that pours a lot of time and energy into gardening, we were slightly disappointed when we saw the outdoor patch completely stoned over. I can understand the benefits in making it easier to maintain but I can only imagine the difference it would have made to the experience if there was a patch of turf in place. We would have definitely spent a little more time sat there in the mornings to enjoy the fresh air and the view.

Lovely, spacious cottage. Very comfortable and well-equipped. Good location for local estuary walks and as a base for exploring South Lakes area. 5 minute walk to village station and excellent Ship Inn pub - a great, friendly, village local

Very peaceful location, easy parking. Spacious accommodation. Lots of local information provided.

Would have liked a colander to wash salads. Also toilet cleaner should be provided to keep bathrooms as clean as possible.
