Great place to stay in the Douro valley with superb pool

Great little property on a vast terraced site overlooking the river. Well furnished, full cooker/oven and large fridge/freezer. Three AC units (both bedrooms and central area) - needed in recent heatwave. Easy to find and in good location a few moles from the motorway but not too far from Porto. The pool was a revalidation - so large and warm with removable covers to keep clean and warm (in the heatwave too hot when it hit over 39°C water temp). Finally, the owners: could not have been more welcoming or friendly. Gave some local information, in touch to check all was OK or if needed anything, and so much more! Even came to see us off at 5 in the morning as our flights were from Lisbon. We are already considering going back! Says it all, and we are fussy and critical.

− This will be much shortet than our likes! The foundary factory below/over the road spoils the view a little bit but was probably there before the villa. The road is busy at the weekend with pedal and motor bikes as it's a great ride up the valley! The entrance and car access is quite tight/tricky - we had no problems in our 11 days but one could see you could.

Leuk huis met een heel grote tuin met fantastisch zwembad. Maar het allermooist is het uitzicht op de rivier de Douro. Hele lieve eigenaren ook!

Swimming pool and view were top notch. Also the owner is very kind

− Missing some ustensiles for the bbq and daily cooking I would say. But nothing very urgent

Beautiful break in the sunshine

The owners were there to greet us on arrival and show us around the property. We were arriving late, and they thoughtfully left us a basket with some breakfast essentials and a bottle of wine. The property is great, with some traditional Portuguese decor, and beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed, although we had dinner out as we were meeting friends. The grounds are very pretty and the views of the river are lovely. We enjoyed the pool too! It’s easy to get into Porto. We had a hire car but just got an uber as it was cheap (around 10 euros) and meant we didn’t have to worry about parking. We definitely want to stay here again when visiting Portugal and the owners are extremely helpful and always on hand should we have needed them.
