Great for a short stay

The room was a great size and clean and tidy, as well as having good pillows and duvet. It had plenty of power points for chargers and a hair dryer.

− The road noise. My room was on the ground floor facing the main route into Rhayader and the window would shake with the sound of lorries, buses, motorbikes going past.

− WC hat ein bisschen gerochen.. Eingang war nicht einfach zu finden. wir und 2 weitere Parteien haben den Eingang beim Cafe/ Restaurant gesucht.

Lovely little room in town. Didn't know it was Canival day when we booked it, but the atmosphere was great and didn't mind the noise.

− Only criticism I would say is the room was quite warm, could've done with a fan in the room. Other than that, no bad points.

Cheap and cheerful

Was looking for some last minute accommodation to complete a mountain walk close to Rhayader. Spent the week of searching and my options were very limited considering it was the first weekend of the summer holiday and mid heat wave in the UK. The morning of travel, I decided to have another look just incase and to my surprise this room was showing available! Jackpot! I paid £60 for a Double Superior Ensuite which is extremely reasonable. The location is great, plus you have a number of food options on the doorstep. Property was self check in, the email was very easy to understand with clear instructions on how to get into the building and then where to find the room keys. Welcome water, biscuits and tea/ coffee facilities provided. Property was clean.

− Unfortunately we stayed in the ground floor room, which is right on the front of the building next to the busy Rhayader cross junction. Even with the windows closed the road noise can be heard, If you're staying in summer you will also likely need to keep the windows open. The room did not have any security latch, as a solo traveller I felt quite uneasy not being able to secure the door from the inside. I ended up moving the chair infant of the door just so I felt comfortable falling asleep. It was also only a wooden door, so any other guests coming into the building can be heard extremely loudly. The mattress needs to be changed, you have two very distinctive dips in the bed. The room could really do with a make over, especially the bathroom which has dirty grout and the floor has air bubbles in patches. You can hear the upstairs bedrooms almost clearly enough to listen to their conversations, so some insulations under the floor boards would be helpful! For the price I paid last minute, I really cannot complain. It did the job, some small tweaks and TLC and this would make a great pitstop!
