8.0It was a home from home. Cosy and welcoming

A beautiful house but some with little things that could make it ‘Wow’
8.0Polly’s place is a very special house. The views from The terrace are just ‘Wow’ The facility’s are great, you have everything you need. It is clean inside and like a home from home feel. It’s stunning! The location is amazing we’ve been coming to Brixham for years and this house is perfect to explore it.
− There is a few issues I want to raise. We couldn’t find the plug to the vacuum cleaner to charge the battery. When we went to use it, the hand held vacuum cleaner wasn’t charged. Having twin girls with us and a dog, it wouldn’t been ideal to be able to use it for crisp explosions and pet hair. The bed on the first floor bedroom with the double bed needs a new mattress. You can feel the springs through it. We woke up with terrible back ache. The window in the same bedroom is broken too and we had to change the light bulb as when it turned dark, the light wouldn’t work. The bin issue is a tricky one, we would have liked to be able to recycle as we have quite a big family. When the bins were emptied, they were full again upon our check out due to us having boxes and food waste. It says in the guest book to just bin all bottles and card into the red sacks. Seems a shame really. The decking area outside wasn’t clean, I had to swill it down as there was some animal waste there. We have a dog ourselves and would never leave anything that would smell especially in a home that isn’t ours. The decking is looking tired, I know it’s by the sea and the elements are not kind in winter months to decking but there is a hole where a tree stump has been, it’s not very safe and a bit of a sight. The decking hasn’t been brushed prior to our stay so there was dog hair from past stays and bits of material from the gulls on it. The front door area hasn’t been brushed for some time either. For anyone staying in the living room at the back with the blue pull out bed, there is no blind on that window so you wouldn’t be able to sleep past 4am in there as it goes light in the summer months. Little things and attention to detail really do go a long way and could make this special place such a more memorable stay especially with the price that is paid during the height of summer.
Perfect sunny holiday in an authentic Brixham cottage
9.0Love this place - we've been coming for years as a family so it's like a home from home! Great location above the harbour with lovely views from the rooms and terrace. It's not a 'perfect' house which I think some of these reviews expect: it's a modernised fisherman's cottage with all it's quirks and foibles! Built into a harbourside cliff and designed to be travelled to by donkey! :D But that's the character of the place and it's authentically Brixham. The house is quiet, comfortable and the patio is a wonderful place to drink your morning coffee and watch the harbour. (And the weather is always nice!)
− The windows need attention: we had to stand on chairs to close them each time and it took two of us (but we are short!). The one in the bedroom particularly is very heavy and 'drops' very quickly if you are not careful: mind your fingers!
very disappointing and definitely not value for money
3.0location good Living room and lounge very well presented and comfy with sea views and free wifi Back Garden amazing views but not clean and eggy odour from the drains especially if bedroom tap running
− What can i say i am 60 years old i have travelled quite a lot but this one is the 1st bad review i have given our stay was for 3 days and cost nearly ~£800 after a 5 hours drive we put food in to cook and then realised no oven gloves when we went to take it out went to wash up no dish clothes tea towel or even a dishwasher tablet this was rectified when i messaged host 2 days later they were left on the door step at the front of the property but we used the back door during our stay as its quicker than walking all the way round to get down to the harbour went to put the dishwasher on and the filter was full of old food which stunk so put the dishwasher on to pre wash it but still smelt so washed by hand Top floor bedroom The end of bed is dangerously near the open and very steep stairs theres also NO mind your head notice as you climbing up or down this staircase is not for the faint hearted Skirting needs painted as its all flaked off Middle floor Bedroom sink blocked which made the back garden smell horrific from the drains that even the neighbours complained Bunk bed room could do with 2 single bunk beds as very little room in there and every time you open the door it takes the rug with it Main Bathroom no ramp nosing from landing floor to the tiled floor which there is a step up too from different floor levels so mind your toes there is no slip mat in the bath so be careful there as very slippy when trying to get in and out shower not to mention the hairs in the plug hole Kitchen be careful there is not hazard strip nosing on the tiles coming from the kitchen to the dinning area and we all got caught out by that tripping or catching the back of our heels walls could do with a wash down as food is on them and the skirting could definitely do with a clean The Back garden doesnt look like it has been swept in a long time and the bins were full of rubbish so we could'nt empty the bins in the kitchen and for bad smell from the drains
Overall we all enjoyed Polly’s Place for our mini break
8.0Wonderful views 2 nice lounges Well equipped
− The access could have been described more fully. The Broad Steps came as a shock. The rubbish bin collection was difficult as both bins were already full and no spare red sack
Very nice stay over Easter weekend. Exceptional view easy access to harbour
8.0The views
− Draught coming in the back door in the kitchen diner
