Wonderful Country Retreat

10.0

The accommodation was very nice. It was the old Railway Weighouse and full of character. The bedroom is unique being accessed by ladders into the roof space. It was very comfy. The location is idyllic and surrounded by forest and countryside. It is very quiet and relaxing, which is just what we wanted.

There was nothing not to like.

We had absolutely gorgeous weather during our stay (slightly too warm sometimes) but a stunning place, situated just off

Absolutely gorgeous little place. Everything was as expected for the price we paid and had all the facilities we needed during our stay. We got extremely lucky with the weather and had an extreme heatwave for the duration of our stay. The only downside to our trip was the cottage did get rather warm during the day, but we brought fans with us and opened the skylights etc on a night which did help alleviate some of the heat! Not a fault of the owners, just the weather being more extreme than normal! A warning though for if you stay during the summer to bring cooling equipment. Lovely wine and biscuits left on arrival as well as lots of information provided by the owners on how to use facilities (also shopping bags left for food shops) and additional walking booklets in the cabinets. Good location for amenities (shops in Penrith) and great place to access further afield. We booked activities at Honister Slate Mine which was just an hour away and so worth the journey. We also managed full day trips to Aira Force, Ullswater, Keswick, Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere as it is no more than 10 minutes onto A66. Wouldn’t have wanted anything more!

Ligging

Veel te klein. Gelukkig konden we meestal buiten eten want binnen was er echt geen plaats. Zelfs geen echte tafel of stoelen. Binnen moest je in de zetel eten voor televisie.

The cottage is small but quirky and it is laid out very well to compensate for its size. It is in a nice quiet area with some beautiful scenery around and some nice walks. We really appreciated the welcome bottle of wine and biscuits, thanks. Its in a great location, lots of things to do and go see in surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay really much and so did the dog. We would definetly come back and stay again.
