Rigid camplike structure delivered in 1940s packaging. Uncomfortable, unpleasant and unrepresentative of Japanese hospit
1.0Ski in ski out location with disciplinary communal living army camp vibes. Canceled after 1 night - barely stayed a total of 13 hours!
− It was like army camp! The hotel manager was rude to us, other customers and clearly maltreats her employees who seemed terrified all the time. The rooms were not very clean. Towels and sheets had holes in them. The walls were paper thin and it was noisy. There was a foul smell throughout the rooms. The toilets didn’t flush properly and leaked. The onsen is very small. None of the rooms have private bathrooms. The hotel description and hotel website is a scam nothing is true.
an awesome Japanese experience
9.0If you want to have a genuine Japanese experience look no further. This is a family run hotel that is located 15 meters from the ski lift in the Sun Valley. It is set up on a traditional way - sleeping mats instead of beds, hot spring Onsen instead of the room shower and lovely Kimonos instead of the bath robes. Food is excellent and the place is set up in a very homey way. Resort offers ski and snowboarding equipment and has a shop with gifts and snacks . We absolutely loved it
− If you have large feet be mindful to bring your own slippers as the plentiful slippers provided by the hotel are too small for Western feet.
Guest review
7.0Nostalgic Japanese Inn located right at the bottom of Sun Valley, outside the chairlift that connects to the rest of the resorts in Shiga Kogen. Huge proportions and varieties of dishes for breakfast and dinner, but quality is so-so spacious Japanese room, comfortable futons. Loved the Onsen
− Dated, a lot of the facilities look like it has not been updated since the 70s buckwheat pillow was small and hard. funky drain smell in the ensuite bathrooms
Guest review
4.0The only real positive is the location directly at the ski slopes. That deserves a 10.
− We booked this hotel with high expectations and paid a premium rate per night. Upon arrival, the front desk staff assumed we did not understand Japanese. We do. What they said about us was disrespectful and offensive simply because we are not Japanese. That is unacceptable. As a guest, you expect respect. The room was very outdated. Everything felt old and not in line with the price we paid. Dinner and breakfast were mediocre. For a premium nightly rate, you expect much better quality.
