Birthday celebrations

9.0

The staff, the food the ambiance.

Not much other than the outside space in the beer garden was a bit scruffy with abandoned racking and looked like old kitchen equipment.

Overall great accomadation. Dining including breakfast was excellent.

Nicely appointed rooms, pub/restaurant

Unfortunately we arrived during the heat wave. Room was quite hot but did cool down in the evening.

Disappointing

4.0

One female member of staff was very helpful

We booked this stay as a birthday treat and, for £352 for one night including breakfast, expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, our room was 30.5°C on arrival, making it unbearably hot. We had to request both a fan and then a portable air conditioning unit before the room became comfortable enough to stay in. We also ate in the attached pub, where I was served chicken that appeared undercooked. Although it was replaced free of charge, it understandably spoiled the meal. There were also numerous flies around the restaurant throughout dinner, which made the experience even less enjoyable. The advertised outdoor space was another disappointment. It was run-down, smelled strongly of cat urine, and didn’t reflect the impression given by the photos online. The staff did provide the fan, portable air conditioning unit and a replacement meal, and after I complained they offered a complimentary return stay. However, given our experience, we explained that we did not wish to return and asked whether a partial refund could be considered. Unfortunately, after that request we received no further response. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and not the birthday experience we had hoped for, especially at this price point.

Staff very helpful but overall didn’t think the property offered value for money.

Pleasant staff, clean room

Breakfast was not available until 9 am which was disappointing, as we had an early start. The shower gel in the bathroom appeared to be watered down!

Perfection and attention to detail.

The pub is amazing, good choice of drinks and food is top notch! All the staff are amazing, special mention of the Scottish bar manager, FAN-tastic host and really good fun. Locals also very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Will be back in December.

Nothing, itvwas perfect.
