What can I say about River House and Gardens? Our stay was nothing short of magical. This beautiful, historic home is full of character and charm, with so much to offer—mature gardens surrounded by the Shannon estuary, elegant rooms with high ceilings, and even a rustic old church on the grounds. We were a group of 24 celebrating a birthday party over two nights, and the house could not have been more perfect. It was incredibly well-equipped, with every detail thought of—ample crockery, cutlery, glassware, serving dishes, and furniture. We truly didn’t need to bring anything except food and drink. Mark, the host, was outstanding. From the very beginning, he went above and beyond to answer every question and help us prepare for the weekend. His warmth, attentiveness, and generosity made the whole experience effortless. One of the highlights was his kind offer to let us use the stunning church on the grounds for our medieval-themed banquet dinner. He personally cleared and prepared the space, set up a long dining table with 24 chairs, and encouraged us to decorate it however we liked. It turned into the most unforgettable evening—an experience we’ll be talking about for years to come. River House and Gardens is truly special—full of history, heritage, and charm, yet welcoming and comfortable in every way. I couldn’t recommend it more highly for anyone looking for a unique and memorable place to stay. We cannot wait to return for our next occasion. Thank you so much, Mark—you and your beautiful home made our celebration absolutely perfect!

Unique Historic Gem

Our family of 15 and of varying ages had a lovely time here. The house and grounds were unique and amazing. There was a lot to explore, including an abandoned church with creepy mannequins! It was great to be able to have everyone together. Mark was the best host ever! He went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. His family has owned the property for many generations, and he is very knowledgeable and interesting.

− The house is historic, so if you are expecting completely modern and perfect amenities you may be disappointed. It is very comfortable and charming despite its age.

Utterly fabulous two days. Mark was a true gent, helping us with everything from start to finish. The property is stunning; the gardens fresh and well looked after. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The asado-style BBQ was real highlight. Five stars in every sense. Thank you so much!

Gorgeous house in a great location

Mark was there on arrival and accommodated us with an early check in. The grounds are amazing overlooking the river shannon and we were lucky with the weather that we got to spend a lot of the time outside. Everything you need is in the house for large groups.
