Unsafe, Misleading, and Mishandled — Sketchy and Stressful Stay

− This stay was a nightmare. Upon arrival, I discovered the front door didn’t lock, leaving me vulnerable in an unsecured apartment for over 24 hours. I was instructed to enter through a back door and avoid security, which immediately felt sketchy. The TV and Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first 36 hours, and I had to leave my professional conference to let in a repairman and his girlfriend, who stayed alone in the unit for hours. After that, my passport went missing. The host offered no accountability and instead implied it was my fault—a textbook case of victim blaming. The furniture is uncomfortable, and the rugs—stacked haphazardly on top of each other—are a serious tripping hazard. This unit is unsafe, misrepresented, and irresponsibly managed. Do not stay here unless you’re prepared to risk your safety and your belongings. ======= The company later responded saying that they offered alternative accommodations and that I "chose" to stay in an unsecured unit- this is untrue. I was never offered another option, only that they wouldn't be able to show up to fix the lock until the next day. They also claim that they gave me troubleshooting advice on the TV and Wifi. Advice was followed, but you can't troubleshoot a screen broken by prior guests- a fact revealed to me by staff. Again, they claim that they offered to allow me to move, which was never offered & I have pages of texts to prove this. They also claim that I did not tell them about the missing passport for 2 weeks, when it was 4 days after my departure, when I fully unpacked and confirmed my suspicion that it went missing on the property. They took 30 days of arguing, guilting me saying that they were going to fire staff because of my negative review before refunding a full nights stay rather than the 8% refund that they initially offered. Then when I didn't immediately respond to their badgering to removing this review on 4/22, they filed a lie-filled complaint with PayPal.
