Did the job but wasn't what I expected

I wanted a seaview and certainly got it. Huge windows looking out to the English Channel. The bed is comfy, and the bedroom's location at the back of the flat with no 'overlooking' properties made it really quiet, you'd hear birds more than cars. The lift/elevator is not immediately visible when you arrive, so for future guests, open the door immediately ahead of you from the main door, and the lift is there. I always book accommodation with a washing machine, so that is a big winning point. The location was great, it was nice to walk out on the promenade to Hastings and enjoy the sea air. There's a bus stop just about opposite the building that is very well served. The St Leonards Warrior Square train station is about 10 minutes' walk with luggage.

All I heard from the host during my stay was a message on arrival day that he was sorry he couldn't meet me in person. I messaged that I had arrived and was surprised by the scaffolding (see bleow), and asking about the wifi code (I hadn't yet found the tiny card on the fridge or the sparse welcome notes on the lounge table), but never heard back at all. So in the spirit of why didn't I reach out with the following impressions of the flat before listing them here, I chose to go on with my stay because these things haven't been addressed yet and wouldn't have changed while I was there. There was scaffolding on the front of the building. I can't say if the host knew and forgot to tell me, or didn't know himself. This really impacted the seaview but didn't eliminate it. The windows are dirty and with lots of cobwebs, and there's rotted wood in the frame of the bedroom window. The listing says there is a balcony but it isn't at all. It's about two feet deep and I wasn't sure it was safe to stand on. The wifi stalled very often when watching shows. Irritating, but I have come to learn that IMO, UK internet and wifi speeds are really slower than what I am used to. Even though the photos for the flat are pretty representative, I did find the bathroom super snug. The tub is raised and it felt I was climbing in and out of it. A word to someone thinking of booking for more than 2 people: the lounge has the sofa bed and also has all the street noise. A previous guest enjoyed cooking on the gas stovetop, but their efforts splattered on the microwave next to it, and the cleaner hadn't taken time to clean the microwave surfaces. There are a good few small repairs that would add a stronger sense of care for the flat - stain removal on the lounge carpet, toilet roll holder is hanging from the wall, the heating panel in the bathroom has rusting chrome, there are only two tiny hooks for towels, a new shower head...
