Lickleyhead Castle experience

10.0

The setting was beautiful in the grounds of the lovely Lickleyhead Castle and the cottage was spacious and very well equipped. The grounds were great to walk round complete with rose garden, fairy grotto, stocks for the naughty people and chess for the strategists. It was peaceful place (even the neighbouring sheep liked to visit in the morning) and yet close to the village of Insch where you could stock up on groceries, etc. I chose the location because it was between the Cairngorm National Park and Aberdeen. We had a lovely day at the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve and another at the beautiful Leith Hall, one of over 300 castles in Aberdeenshire (if you look carefully you will see a sketch of Lickleyhead Castle displayed on the wall there) and another on the beach at Aberdeen! What is not to like?

If I had any criticism at all it would be that manuals would be useful on how to use some of the kitchen appliances (oven and toaster :). We worked it out in the end - LOL

Excellent stay in a lovely location.

9.0

It was a lovely cottage with great amenities. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was very modern with everything you need.

10am check out time is a bit early for self-catering as there is always a bit of tidying and ensuring bins are emptied and food is packed.
