Our Favorite Camino Portuguese Hotel
10.0My wife absolutely loved this hotel. It looked nice when I booked it online, but I had no idea just how special it would be. Although our room was not large, it was beautifully decorated with historic charm, and the large windows overlooked the stunning grounds. After a long day of walking the Camino Portuguese, we had planned to simply rest in our room. Instead, we spent the afternoon relaxing beneath the shade of a magnificent tree and enjoying the peaceful setting. A river flows through the back of the property, and part of it has been channeled into a beautiful natural freshwater pool, making the grounds feel like a private retreat. Breakfast offered a smaller selection than some of the other hotels where we stayed, but everything was fresh and delicious, and the service was excellent. The only drawback is that the hotel is located a few miles outside Caldas de Reis, so it requires a short taxi ride to reach. Even so, the tranquil setting and exceptional atmosphere made it one of the highlights of our Camino. We would gladly stay here again.
