Good location and friendly service, but some comfort and reliability issues affected our stay.

The staff provided good service, the food was reasonable and the location offered great access to the lake and was convenient for town. The room was unique and full of character.

− The room was quite noisy due to the waves, and the eco-toilets created an unpleasant smell. Hot water was only available in the mornings, and power cuts were frequent in the evenings.

The location was good and close to shops. The staff was GREAT! VERY thoughtful and willing to help you, they were also very kind. Made my stay enjoyable and memorable. If you don’t mind the compost toilet, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

− Might need to upgrade some things, they were a bit worn out. Check on prices of food and drinks as they are a bit overpriced.

Lovely place to take a break from the stresses of traveling! I had a cozy cabin right down on the water-beautiful! Well managed place. Food in restaurant is quick and consisent. Would highly recommend.

Lovely stay next to Lake Malawi

I stayed at the lakeview private room. The place is quite basic but everything's perfectly functional and view is very nice. However, it can feel a bit scary when there's heavy rain and when wave is strong. The wave can come to the bridge connected to the room so you may get wet. I am so scared that I will drop the key inside the lake when I opened the door. The sound of waves can go all night and disturb the sleep. Staff are helpful. Food is good. Compost toilet in lakeview room but the public toilet and private toilets in other room are normal flush toilet. There's little smell from the compost toilet but I find it acceptable. Don't use this room if you mind a compost toilet. I would choose the dorm room next time as it has public flush toilet just outside the room, close to the restaurant. The upper floor of restaurant is comfortable and nice enough to stay whole day long.

− The hot water shower is solar power. They can't guarantee. I was really so lucky to have warm water for the last 2 days. Remember to take shower in the middle of the day when the sun is up if you don't want cold shower.

I was very comfortable in the cottage over the water. It's a simple building, but simple, clean, and functional. Being on the water is amazing. I loved sitting on the porch and looking out over the lake. Sunrise was beautiful. Watching boats in the bay was interesting. Lots of birds, fish, and lizards to see. There is a cabinet with a lock for security, and the cottage itself locks up quite securely. The bed was comfortable and the mosquito net was plenty big and reached the floor, so it was easy to use. The composting toilets didn't smell bad and there was hot water during the day (also still warm enough to shower before sunrise). The restaurant had good food and real coffee, and provides elevated views of the lake. and tree tops. The staff were helpful and kind. Close enough to walk into town or to/from the ferry dock.

− The deck furniture was starting to collapse, and stray peices will scratch you if you aren't careful. Some of the windows were jammed shut. There are big, uneven steps up to the restaurant (it's good exercise!). The restaurant is a bit expensive, but the food is really good.
