Just perfect. A quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 6 km from the beach. Surrounded by small terraces where you can eat excellently. Definitely a better choice than Eretria.

A good, non-touristy, base for exploring central Evia

The apartment is easy to find via Google maps (marked as Sandy’s House, as on the property’s business cards), and is in a good location in the centre of the village, a short walk from restaurants, bakeries, shops, etc. The keys are in a key-safe right next to the front door, and there is street parking nearby. The apartment is a good size; you enter into a corridor with the two bedrooms on the left, the living-dining-room/kitchen on the right, and the bathroom at the end. The main room has a sofa, an easy chair, a TV, a table and three chairs. The well-equipped kitchen has a full-size fridge, a cooker, a washing machine, a microwave, and a coffee-maker. The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe, a comfortable double bed, one bedside table with lamp, a dressing table and chair, and an A/C unit. The second bedroom has two single beds, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, and a chair. The large shower has a curtain, and is evidently housed under a staircase. The décor throughout the apartment is interesting with lots of knick-knacks everywhere; this along with the many toiletries, etc. made it seem more like someone’s home than a holiday rental. The A/C worked fine for heating, and the wifi was also OK.
− Our only major negative experience relates to the cleaning. (And if it wasn’t for this I would have scored this property 9 out of 10). Though the general cleaning (floors, counters, etc.) was fine, the fridge was not clean, and had not been emptied (it contained a packaged salad, half a bottle of wine, a jar of strange liquid, and some frozen food (meat?)), the coffee maker still had a filter with used coffee grounds in it, the washing machine was full of laundry (bedding and towels, presumably unwashed). Worst of all, in the oven was a plate of food that had evidently been there for weeks if not months (it was unidentifiable since it was completely covered in a grey mold). Otherwise, there is no electric kettle, cutting board or frying pan in the kitchen, and no A/C unit in the main room (only one in the corridor and one in the first bedroom).
