Lovely quiet location tucked away on a farm with lots of interesting animals: music, donkeys, geese, goats, hens, ducks, peacock and peahen. Baby donkey born the day before we arrived. Very cute. Great firepit set up and ready to light. Excellent breakfast spread. Right next to a canal for gentle strolls to local hostelries.

Emus do make some strange noises during the night. 😀

The summer house is on a farm with lots of lovely animals. This one in particular neighbours a peacock! It’s very relaxing, and the owners/hosts are super down to earth and lovely. They leave you to it, but also they’re around to show you around, feed the animals etc. They provide everything you need for a kettle and toaster including jams, marmalade, tea, coffee milk and bread for breakfast. You also get a pack of pastries which are high quality. It’s super safe, peaceful and in a great location if you’re wanting to visit near places like Matlock / Heights of Abraham in just a short drive.

Perfect for couples who like their four-legged friends and a laid back vibe.

Beautiful summer house and shower room that had everything we needed. Sheer luck that this option was the more private of the 3. Definitely one for animal lovers (the main reason we chose it) as there was a menagerie of chickens, ducks, emus, Mr & Mrs peacock, a pony, cats, alpacas, donkeys & goats. Chilled, lovely welcoming people.

Honestly nothing! I would recommend perhaps bringing a sleep mask with you as the summer house is fairly bright when the sun comes up. Or maybe cheap disposable ones could be provided?

Amazing staycation - live your cosy cottage / farm dreams!! 🐓 🤍

We stayed for 2 nights at Birds & the Bees and had such a wholesome stay. The little Summer house incredibly has everything you could need despite its small size, and still somehow feels spacious. we travelled with our 2 year old (slept in the bed with us, no room for a cotbed) and Sarie was so kind to go out of her way add more to the breakfast and provide a water table and trike for him. Your neighbours are peacocks and emus, you’re woken up gently by literal roosters crowing. And not to forget the donkeys, horse and free roaming geese ☺️ we all loved them and got the chance to hold a baby emu too. Local coop 2 min drive away from any snacks and a lovely pub The Travellers Rest in hilltop village Stanley (2 min drive from property) for a nice meal. Thank you for opening up this private little corner of your home for to us all to experience this dreamy stay! Highly recommend to anyone and will absolutely be back! Xx
