Good choice for a dugout stay in Coober Pedy
8.0The property is on the outskirts of Coober Pedy and boasts an incredible view to the horizon. The property boasts two dugouts, side-by-side. The owner, Karen, lives in one and the other (the subject of this review) hosts guests. In front of the dugouts is a large flat area. Karen hosts campers in that area (the property is known as Coober Pedy Views in that context). Karen is a kind host and fairly unflappable (likely due to years of hosting). Like all dugouts, the temperature remains fairly constant throughout the year, which obviates the need for any kind of air conditioning. It was quite cool when we were in Coober Pedy and it was a delight to return to the warmth of the dugout each night. While there were doonas on the beds, they were really unnecessary. It’s also enjoyable to experience the darkness of a dugout - so unlike a regular house. The property is well-equipped and boasts a modern kitchen and bathroom - there is television but no wi-fi.
− The property is on the outskirts of Coober Pedy. While it boasts great views of the surrounding countryside, the downside is that the roads that lead to the property are unmade. We arrived in Coober Pedy after a downpour and the roads leading to the property had turned to mud. This made getting to the property in a 2WD car very challenging. My travelling companion was completely freaked out by the experience! The dugout has two bedrooms - one boasts a double bed and the other two single beds. The single beds are short and have wood paneling at both ends - as a consequence, they’re not that comfortable, length-wise, for an adult to sleep in.

9.0Location was amazing. Host was very welcoming. Even got us some ice cream.. which was sooo lovely of her to do.
Prima
8.0Alles was aanwezig en goed in orde om er een paar dagen te verblijven.
− Doordat de ruimte vochtig en stoffig was (niet vuil maar omdat het een uitgehakte grotwoning is), had ik wat last van mijn longen.
Thank you Karen for a great stay in Coober Pedi
9.0Karen is a great host. The apartment is roomy and wonderful because you have the experience of living underground with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The washing machine was a bonus.
− We would prefer a queen bed
