1.0Nothing, read my big comment. I was struggling to give you a bit higher grade just because in the end we spent a lovely time in Mallnitz and we will come back ( not with you of course), but the way you handled the situation in general was not OK. Hope you will learn something from it.
− I booked a two bedroom apartment with no cancellation option. We informed the property in advance about our arrival time and guests details. On arrival at 18:30h our host just showed us the accommodation which was not what we booked. It was one bedroom apartment, bedroom with double bed, bunk bed above it and something that was turned into bed opposite the double bed. We came with two small kids in the evening just to be shown unacceptable accommodation which we did not book. They offered a compensation, but it was absolutely unacceptable for us to stay for 7 days in this. When I refused they tried to find alternative in the city for us. They did find an ok place, but the place did not have availability for the entire time we wanted to stay, the garden was not good and my yoga sessions I was looking forward to did not happen. Yes, in the end they did offer some kind of support for the alternative, but the reason for me to write this is that they blamed it on booking.com for making double booking, which is really strange. First of all, I'm in the hospitality business myself and booking systems advertise what you tell them and you have to check them. Second, when you saw "double booking" you prepare solution in advance, notify the clients and offer a compensation package. You do not wait a family with two small kids to arrive and make it a done deal, just because your other clients came first, hoping they will accept what was offered. Third, I'm travelling and book my accommodation via booking.com for over 20 years, I have booked places from Asia to Central and South America and I have never ever experienced "double booking" or any inconvenience whatsoever. And no, I do not book 5 star hotels, I have booked some really dodgy places, private accommodations but I knew what they were and never had any issue.
