10.0The place was lovely and neat, security was friendly and helpful, fresh air from the sea
Unbeatable location and solid service, but let down by deferred maintenance and an Wi-Fi issues
7.0The operational side of the booking was handled perfectly. Check-in was highly efficient—coordinated via WhatsApp with a practical, no-fuss key collection at a local fuel station. Both the owner and the caretaker delivered top-tier, friendly service. The location is the absolute highlight of the property and almost makes up for the unit's physical flaws. It is an incredibly short walk to the water—20 meters of grass, through the bottom gate, a quick crossing over Marine Drive, and a short boardwalk directly onto the beach. Sitting on the verandah offers a brilliant, immersive experience with excellent breaker views and the constant sound of crashing waves.
− The flatlet is distinctly showing its age and is in need of a proper maintenance overhaul. The coastal environment has severely degraded the hardware: the patio security door and sliding door are heavily nuked by salty rust and are a complete struggle to operate. The lounge window levers are completely seized from corrosion, making them impossible to lock. Inside, there is visible rising damp blowing the plaster off the corner wall in the seafront bedroom, the kitchen cupboards are tired, and the kitchen basin handle was broken off. I understand this is somewhat standard for older coastal properties, but it crosses the line into looking a tiny bit neglected. Its asking for TLC. The biggest operational failure, however, was the connectivity. I specifically booked this place for a 5-night stay because it advertised included Wi-Fi. They rely on a Telkom SIM-based router, and due to a South Coast network outage, there was absolutely zero internet for the entire duration of my stay. I was forced to burn through my own mobile data at my own expense. If reliable Wi-Fi is a hard requirement for you, consider this a red-flag.
