Highly recommend
8.0Location was great. Quick wander to powderkeg & short drive into Main Street and park. Went to Whakapapa and Turoa over the wknd, nice and quick. Each room has a heater & heated blankets and the heat pump in the lounge pumps. DVD collection is impressive. Wifi and Xbox great, but the firm favourite was the train. How neat!! Even some passers by stopped for a ride. All the bits and bobs around the place are so nostalgic. My friend posted vids on her insta and had multiple people asking for the listing to book cause the train and location is so cool. Loved it
− The kitchen was iddy biddy BUT still super workable and had everything we needed and more! Some firewood just for a quick fire would be a nice touch on arrival and maybe a quick note to say where to source some. Hot water only lasted 1.3 baths worth so can’t fill both
Great little stay with our friends and family.
9.0Perfect location with the entrance to Turoa right at the end of the street. Very warm little cottage, with the heat pump and the fire place. The kids loved the train, and were eager to get up early every morning to take it around the tracks (all the adults had a few turns on it too - very cool little addition). Comfy beds, and very quiet home. The neighbours came by in the morning to apologise for the party that they had the night before but none of us had heard a thing!
− The oven trays done fit in the oven, and the oven probably needs a service or replacement as it didnt cook very well - it only half cooked our food and we needed to finish it off on the open fire.
Two winter nights in a heritage house, feeling like we’d stepped back in time
10.0We loved the characteristics of the heritage house, the family had lots of fun guessing the stories behind the collective items, especially the young ones.
− We weren’t sure where’s the rubbish bin supposed to be but didn’t think it’s a big deal, just used our old bags. Would appreciate a bit of instruction with how to deal with rubbish so we know we are doing the right thing.
Comms were great from the host, house was warm and the train was an excellent perk of the stay

Perfect for family with primary ages kids and toddlers. Warm and close to Ruapehu.
10.0It felt like being at home - comfort and warmth - went to the local supermarket put on the slow cooker overnight for a hot breakfast. The games and the little train was so cool.
− I may have left a couple of items there - no ones fault but my own :) had a sleep in cos it was so cosy wanted to show respect by taking all the rubbish. Also some previous guests had ripped out some pages of the guest book - rude.
Fabulous stay....loved the train.
10.0Loved the house, comfy, casual and had everything we needed. We also loved the train..it was amazing, we had great fun.
