A below average hotel on a busy, noisy road.
3.0The food in the bar was quite good.
− The hotel is on a busy road that had traffic all through the night. Even being hard of hearing the noise still disturbed me. The breakfast included in the price had a very limited choice. I left my toiletries bag in the room when we left. The staff did send it to me as I agreed to pay the postage but they also charged me £15 for the 'staff time' to post it. The post office is 5 minutes away from the hotel so I thought this was excessive.
Characterful coaching inn spoilt by traffic noise
8.0Extremely well placed for cycling along the Newtown to Welshpool canal. We arrived at lunchtime and as our room was ready they let us check in early so we could change into cycling gear. Large, comfortable room with good shower. Good food in restaurant in evening. Continental breakfast included in price with an extra charge for a cooked breakfast which is a very sensible offer.
− Located right next to a busy road - lots of traffic noise. Over loud music in restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast. Starter of artisan bread and dipping sauce included far too much bread (two mini loaves, three slices of bloomer and three pieces of foccacia - as a starter for one person!) and only a tiny amount of balsamic glaze (not vinegar) for dipping, with no olive oil.
Stayed before. Liked it. Went again.
