The location is stunning in terms of views and access to Cornwall and the Plymouth area of Devon and Dartmoor. Callington facilities are five minutes away for shops etc.The location is lovely and quiet and the dog was warmly welcomed!

− On the whole the Woodpecker Lodge just needed updating but it was good enough for a great weekend away.

Perfect Dog Friendly Getaway to see in 2026!

Communication was brilliant before, during and after. The property was equipped with everything you could need and in such a beautiful spot. So nice to find somewhere that was dog friendly with enough outdoor space. It was the first time we had taken the pooch away and was perfect for it! Heating worked well and lovely having the wood-burning fireplace. Very quiet and hearing the Cockrells in the morning was actually brilliant! Easy to park and easy to find down the back roads. Bed linen was so soft and comfy!

− I reckon an 11am check out would be better as most places are usually 11am. 10am seems slightly early. We unfortunately had issues with the internet but it was out of the hosts' control but just bear in mind it is quite secluded so don't expect rapid internet. Unfortunately, with partner being self-employed it is impossible to completely switch off! X

The staff went out of there way to make sure there was flowers, chocolates and a bottle of champagne awaiting our arrival for my partners birthday. (Thankyou) also Everything was clean and fresh and most importantly super cosy. Very quiet area which is needed for someone who lives a fast city lifestyle.

− There was no dog bags available but as I always carry some this was not too much of an issue. There was no firewood upon arrival but this was soon rectified when I kindly messaged the team. On the Saturday night we were disturbed by someone flashing a flashlight towards our property which made our dogs go crazy and also woke me up at approx 3am. The cockerel is a nice touch but if staying more than a weekend you may feel the need to bbq him. The living area could do with adjustments as the dining table is somewhat in the way of the TV.

Beautiful place, peaceful and far from cities. We travel with toddler (2 years 6 months) and 4 small dogs. We had everything that we expected. Every helpful people. Highly recommend!
