Your Grandma’s Cozy Apartment in Punta del Este.
10.0This nice and well-kept apartment is in an older building, in a residential neighborhood away from the high-rises and beach scene of Punte del Este. It reminded us of a place your grandma or favorite aunt might own, it is family owned and the owner communicated with us via whatsapp as we taxied in from the airport, so he was there to meet us and show us the apartment. He was very kind and welcoming. It has two bedrooms, two baths, and plenty of storage space. The large windows in all rooms let in a lot of daylight. There is a newer clothes washer as well. The building is safe and secure. We stayed two weeks and really enjoyed our visit. There is a large multi-story shopping mall with a large grocery store a ten minutes walk away, and many restaurants also reasonable walking distances. We used Uber to get around and it was very efficient and inexpensive. Punta del Este is a high-end beach resort so not an inexpensive place to visit, but the city is exceptionally clean and modern. One thing to note, the owner takes cash only at check-in, but he accepts US dollars as well as Uruguay pesos. Many businesses also take dollars, and if you use a US credit card to pay, they refund the 18% VAT. We recommend a visit to Punte del Este and arranging to rent this apartment.
− Nothing really, except the Bookings site did not mention that we’d need to pay cash, which we did not have sufficient to cover the rent. We used bank ATM’s and were able to make multiple with-drawls.
