Capstan Cottage - harbour cottage with parking♡

A lovely quiet getaway in a stunning location

We normally stay in hotels but thought we would give this cottage a go and we are so glad we did, it was like a home away from home, our host had thought of everything even beach towel and crabbing gear. It’s situated in a lovely quiet area of Weymouth just a short walk to the main town and some secluded quiet beaches I will certainly be booking this next time we come to Weymouth.

The location is ideal, just a walk away from everything: city centre, beach, Nothe Fort, Newton cove, Sandsfoot Castle,.... The property and kitchenware were very clean, probably the cleanest property we've rented. The downside side is that the house is located by the entrance gate, which makes a lot of noise when operated and can wake you up early morning. It needs WD 40.... otherwise all good.

Capstan Cottage was a very comfortable place to stay. It had more than enough room for the two of us and a full complement of kitchen facilities (including a dishwasher). It is only a short walk to the facilities and venues of Weymouth; for people with mobility issues I would point out that the first part of that is down a steepish hill. Having a dedicated car parking space was a Godsend in an area where most venues have none. It was a very quiet stay for us, when we did bump into residents in the apartments around us they seemed very friendly. The venue is very secure too, and having a downstairs toilet as well as the bathroom was an added convenience. The one issue we did have with a bath plug was swiftly dealt with on the same day of reporting it.

− The one possible improvement for us would be more storage space (shelves or cupboards), particularly in the bathroom. We take quite a lot of lotions, potions and pills on holiday with us and would have appreciated more space to put them. One thing that didn't particularly bother us but might some people is that the property has the automated gate to the complex right outside. With the pedestrian walkway there too means there is a small lack of privacy in the living area and it is quite dark. However vehicle and pedestrian traffic was infrequent and blinds on the window there helped maintain privacy.

The location, the decor, facilities, parking and a fully secure garden for our houdini dog were fantastic. We do a lot of cooking, all pots, pans, utensils etc were provided. We had an amazing week and would definitely book again, Thank you. 😊

− There was nothing we didn't like but a couple of minor niggles. The paving slabs in the garden are a little mossy so very slippery and I nearly took a tumble. Also there were no dishwasher tablets meaning we had to buy a massive box as you can't buy in small quantities. We left them for the next people as we don't have a dishwasher at home. 🙂
