Disappointing room design and facilities — expected better from DoubleTree.

− I booked this hotel mainly because of its parking facilities. However, I ended up parking at the nearby Premier Inn and walking to DoubleTree. Ironically, Premier Inn was also closer to the train station, making me question whether I had made the right choice of hotel. Although our room had a window, it faced a wall, so there was hardly any view. The room had a kettle, but it was placed inside a cabinet. When we boiled water, the steam rose directly towards the shelf above. I really cannot understand the reasoning behind this design. The bathroom had a glass sliding door, but even when fully closed, there was a gap of at least two inches. This appeared to be a workmanship issue and compromised privacy. Overall, the room had several disappointing design and practical shortcomings. I had expected better from DoubleTree.

10.0The breakfast was nice, the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. I told the hotel that my partner and I were celebrating her birthday and they brought us a piece of cake and spelled out "happy birthday " in chocolate, which was very sweet. The staff are very friendly and kind. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel
− Newcross is a little bit of a dodgy area but the hotel cant help that. I felt very safe in the hotel and in my room.
Don't accept a basement room!
5.0The location was ideal for what I needed, being very close to my friend's apartment
− The first room I was given was windowless, and was located right next to a conference room, with a loud event taking place from about 7am. I was really unhappy and was switched to a different room for the next night, which was handled well. However, there is no way this room should be in use when a corporate event is scheduled, completely unacceptable.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly choose this hotel when we next return to the capital.

10.0Excellent location. Right by DLR but quietly set back from road. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast - we were brought out our own vegetarian sausages! Comfortable bed.
