A perfect weekend with friends in a wonderful house!

We had an incredible stay at this beautiful and historic house. It’s a perfect place to get friends or family together, with fantastic hosting spaces such as the large kitchen, dining room to seat 20+ if required, cosy lounge and library with a wood burning fire. The weather was gorgeous during our stay so we even managed to sit out and sunbathe in the garden as well. The bedrooms were comfortable and all had close access to a bathroom to be shared with one other room at most. Everyone was very complimentary about their mattress and had a great nights sleep! Our hosts were friendly and had thought of every detail!

The property was perfect for our large group of adults and children! Barney was a wonderful host; he gave us a great tour on arrival with a history of the house that was so interesting and tips on nearing attractions and good walking routes. Everything we needed was there with especially great facilities in the kitchen and a dining room fit for kings! Our group is already planning a return visit.

− This is more advice for future guests rather than a problem with the property but the house could get a little chilly of an evening. Totally to be expected for a property of this age and provenance but if you feel the cold, maybe pack some extra layers or blankets.

We are a family of 19 spanning over 3 generations from ages 1 to 72 years, and spent a fantastic 3 nights together in this beautiful house. We had 6 bedrooms, and plenty of other rooms to spread out, whether in the sitting room/playroom, lounge/library or kitchen or dining room. We had a great kitchen with all appliances and equipment making it easy to cook meals, and were greeted by a lovely selection of complimentary goodies when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The lounge was relaxing and the log burner made it very cosy. The house has so much history dating back centuries, so full of character, and it was even more special by being decorated beautifully for Christmas. Beth and Barney were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this house to any large groups wanting a special place to stay, and would happily stay here if in the area again.
