Would not recommend, needs improvement

Good location and layout for large group, beds clean, easy to get in

− Property is not well maintained: Windows are filthy, most tiles in hall and bathroom are cracked and/or missing grout, bathroom cabinets rotting, rooms not dirty, but not that clean either, plaster cracked in the walls in multiple places, water stains mark the ceiling from previous leaks in hall and bedroom and the mattresses are old. Everything in this house has been poorly or cheaply fitted, and to top it off no toilet roll was provided, not one in the whole house, and only dregs of soap left in downstairs bathroom. Considering we were there over Christmas it was a bit sad.

The layout of the property was perfect for our family

− The property was filthy meaning our first night was spent cleaning what we could. The carpets downstairs were disgusting. In the utility there was rubbish swept into a corner including a used tissue. The draining board looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time with mildew build up, we have a 12 week old baby so bottle washing wasn’t ideal. A light was hanging down above the dining room table. The upstairs bathroom sink tap wasn’t working which was clearing known about before our stay as there was a hole in the wall right through to the landing. There is water stain marks on the ceiling in the hallway and in the back double bedroom with a hole in the ceiling that has screwed up toilet roll stuffed in it. There is a small yard to the rear which is overgrown with a bush next to the patio doors overgrown across the doors. Because of all this I was offered a refund for one night which I was more than happy for but I have been refunded £112 when each night we stayed worked out at £167.

Location is good. Off street parking. Big kitchen.

− Garden is overgrown and full of rubbish, including an old tv aerial outside the patio door, which was hard to get out of because of the bushes. There was no garden furniture and all bins were overflowing. The downstairs bathroom smells damp, and my partner got locked inside for over 30min due to the handle of the door being faulty. The shower also does not drain so fills the room full of water past what you would expect even for a wet room. The upstairs bedroom sink tap would not turn off, at one point it was on full and took several attempts to make it work but still was a constant trickle. The cups and glasses was all dirty Windows are very dirty. After completing we was promised a discount but we are still waiting.

The house was well appointed and well equipped. Good size, plenty of bedrooms and two nice bathrooms.

− More attention to detail is required. For example, information about the property and how it works (including waste disposal); make sure everything required to make the house manageable is there (eg simile things like facilities for washing up; perhaps information leaflets about Redcar and the surrounding area. Shortage of storage in the bedrooms.

How cosy and decorated it was

− There was a leak in the the downstairs corridor from the shower upstairs. We had to clean it up
