Restful and peaceful stay in great house with big shady garden

We had an excellent stay at Vasilis's apartment. Everything in the apartment is very well maintained and extremely clean. Vasilis was very welcoming and showed us round the apartment and how to work the gas barbecue. The garden is lovely and has great shady spaces. Good garden furniture and a great table on the terrace for outdoor meals (also a dining table indoors if needed). The kitchen is well provided with a range of glasses, plates, cutlery and pots/pans and utensils - there's a small freezer above the fridge with lots of ice and an ice cube tray. As much hot water as we wanted. (Washing machine, coffee machine etc. all good.) There is an excellent and friendly restaurant (Katholiki) a few minutes' walk away, and also a lovely bar, Sundalia, a similar distance away in the other direction (7 minutes). The big good supermarket is 20 minutes' walk away, but there's also a mini market muct closer, just the other side of Sundalia. Both Vasilis and the agency representative, Michaela, were very available, helpful and communicative and made it a very easy week for us. They would happily have helped us organise car hire or other arrangements if we had needed them.

− - The shower fitting was a bit loose but Vasilis fixed it the same day. - We weren't initially sure how easy it would be without our own car, but we worked out where to get the Afandou buses (in town (stop A3, Centre) and, nearer, where to get the bus on the highway (the main Rhodes Town-Lindos road), which was very close and easy to get, with lots of buses on the timetable (KTEL Rodou). The nearest one to the apartment is stop no. 26 (stops 23-26 for Afandou on the highway are on the main timetable and are called Lippia/Oasis/Iris). We got on at stop 26 heading south to go to Lindos (the stop is down the curvy slip road on the west side of Afandou Bridge, just before the big supermarket, Kritikos) and we got buses into Rhodes Town from 26 heading north, just down the slip road by the children's playground on the east side of Afandou Bridge. One day we got a bus into town (we got the 8.15 from A3 in town, next to the school) and went to Symi for the day - if you use the Sebeco speedboat, the port for Sebeco (Colona) is 10 minutes' walk from the bus station in Rhodes Town. Easier than the big ferry, where we had to run to get the 7.30 bus back (though there were more buses later). - The area a little away from the apartment is quite run down, some of it from storm damage, but the bar and restaurant are excellent and the location works really well for seeing Lindos and Rhodes Town and for having a peaceful and very enjoyable week. - The apartment has mozzie screens on door/all windows ... for those that get in otherwise, there are plugs/tablets in one of the kitchen drawers.

Lovely apartment a bit aside from the town, but very close to the beach. Clean and comfortable, with a nice garden and a very kind and helpful host. Very efficient airconditioning and Wi-Fi reaching all the way to the garden. Thank you for a great stay!

Away from the busy tourist areas. The property was lovely and clean. Lemons and white mulberry’s onsite that the host kindly offered to us. Close to a traditional Greek town with great people, great restaurants and great prices.

Pavlos (the host) was amazing! He was so friendly and even came over one night and helped us grill burgers. Everything was clean and worked great and our group had a great week in Afantou!
