7.0Basic room and bed. Nice, shared bathrooms. Beautiful view. Clean. Nice terrace. Chez Ali calls itself a Gite d'étape. The définition of which is a place for bikers, motorists etc to stay for a single night/ stage (etape) on their journey. This applies to most/all other places in the valley. And they seem designed to cater exclusively to this type of visitor, all charge about €20 per night and €10 for dinner, which I guess is standard/affordable if you are on a motorbike tour or similar but is 3 or 4 times the cost of a meal in the local cafes. I stayed for a week to explore the valley. As such, it is expensive for the basic quality of the room. Food is good but little flexibility e.g. if you just want a snack there are few options. Host let me use the kitchen but only for occasional small things as a favour There is a tiny shop and café 2 minutes away with irregular opening hours. Public transport: grand taxi from Azilal to Tabant is recommended. Several per day but probably few after 1pm. Tabant has a few small shops and cafes, a place to change money but no atm in the valley. From Tabant to Chez Ali there are grand taxis for the 7km. Or it's a 2 hour flat, beautiful walk along the valley floor. People with their own transport were coming via Damnate but that route is apparently unreliable for public transport. Nice day-hikes in the area but better if you have your own transport.

Nice place to stay
