The Cricket House was everything we hoped for in a family vacation stay—clean, comfortable, thoughtfully appointed—and more. More than lodging, it offered an experience: a vivid sense of place that made our four days there feel like a distinct and treasured chapter in our month-long journey through Italy. The fact that the house and its grounds were designed by a photographer is apparent from every vantage: tasteful interior furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows framing lush landscapes, and a modern aesthetic that feels completely at home in its local surroundings. The property is every bit as spacious and beautiful as the photos suggest—but what can’t be captured is the sound of crickets in the evening, the scent of flowers, the stillness, the stars. Our children had space to roam safely and play, while we soaked in the peaceful surroundings. The villages and beaches in the area made It easy to feel both at home and immersed in local life. Lastly the host is extremely responsive and thoughtful. He provided some recommendations via chat in advance of our arrival and at the home we found a wonderfully detailed homemade guidebook with l descriptions of several beaches and restaurants in the area that we consulted throughout our stay.
