− Room was next to back yard resulting in noise from rubbish/recycling and smell from bonfire meaning we had to shut window. It was hot weather. A room fan would have been appreciated.
Great pub with basic accommodation
7.0The Great Western Arms is a lovely pub in a super location by the canal. It serves lovely Hook Norton ales and great, 'home cooked' foods, with very friendly bar and waiting staff. The room itself was really quite basic but had all the facilities you'd expect and at £80 per night was fair value.
− We had read a previous review about biting insects so kept the window closed but still had to spend a protracted period each night finding the one or two that had got into the room and getting rid of them. I suspect they are getting in whilst doors are open for cleaning. Not quite sure what you can do about this after our unexpected hot weather. We were woken by a 6am delivery of food that was happening just outside our room window. The shower enclosure is barely big enough for a larger man to wash. Overall, a refresh of the room would be more in character with the pub but then I'd expect to have to pay more for the pleasure.
