Kathryn and Jordan are phenomenally hospitable and the property is amazing. They seem to have thought of everything. Try as I may, I can't think of anything that was short of perfect. Thank you, thank you!

We had the perfect stay at High House Barn!

10.0

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home – thanks to the cosy interior, the thoughtful layout, the stunning views, and, last but not least, the warm welcome from our wonderful hosts. The barn has been beautifully converted into a holiday home, with great attention to detail in both design and decoration. The layout is ideal: two separate staircases each lead to a bedroom + bathroom, offering plenty of space and privacy. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. And the kids absolutely loved the Disney Channel😊 The views are simply breathtaking – you can see Lake Bassenthwaite from almost every window in the house. Our favourite spot was the swing chair in the garden, the perfect place to watch the sun set over the lake. We took several lovely trips from the house. We highly recommend the walk around Lake Buttermere, climbing Binsey (followed by a bite at The Muddy Duck), visiting the Castlerigg Stone Circle, and spending time in Ambleside. All the lakes are within easy driving distance, and the scenic drives are part of the fun. Or just walk up the hill behind the house – it’s just you and the sheep! Kathryn and Jordan live next door and are always available if needed, yet they give you all the privacy you want – a perfect balance.
Thank you so much for your kind hospitality – we truly loved our stay at your beautiful High House Barn!

Best sunsets of our trip!

10.0

Kathryn welcomed us personally, was always available if needed while respecting our privacy. The barn conversion has been meticulously done providing a fabulous holiday venue with log fire and spectacular views across fields to lake and mountains. If you seek a nature retreat in the beautiful Lake District this is it! And only ten minute drive to bustling Keswick.

The ensuite was a little squeezy but to be expected in a hay loft.

Gorgeous stay in a beautiful place with lovely hosts

10.0

Beautiful surroundings. Very high finish to the inside that made it feel like a real treat. Hosts were so lovely, on hand via message to teach us how to use the log burner, suggest pram friendly walks etc. Glad we paid the little bit extra to stay here as it was a real home from home so we saved money by eating in (which is easier with a baby anyway). They provided so many toys for the baby that we didn’t even unpack the ones we brought! Also provided a highchair, travel cot and changing mat.

Not a criticism at all but as so much else is provided for the baby it might be a nice idea to provide a baby bath too. We coped fine with the shower but in hindsight we wished we’d brought a plastic baby bath that we could have filled up in the shower.
