Tropical disaster warning
1.0− From start to finish, this trip was an absolute disaster. The tent itself was somewhat nice, however the amenities they provide are not accurate and they fail to include a lot of aspects of their rental. Upon pulling up to the tent, the driveway was pitch black with one tiny sign that could barely be seen to point you in the right direction. When we got to the tent, no light was on ready for our arrival and when we did try to turn the outside lights on, they didn’t work. This was an issue that lasted into the next day, meaning we had to unload in the dark and also Sherry (the neighbour I believe) had to come over and “fix” the issue. On top of that, the main lamp inside did not work which was mentioned to Sherry so anytime in the main area when it was dark, we were forced to sit in the dark. The location and tent is located as “dog friendly” and on multiple platforms “fully fenced”. There is no gate on the fence, and on top of that, the fence they do have has multiple holes along it. The surrounding area, is messy and dirty with a “work shop in progress”. The tent door, does NOT zip at the bottom. Meaning if you take a dog, it can easily slip under at night and also no security of someone coming in. The tent is located right next to a farm with a dog that barks aggressively all day and all night as well as a bird sanctuary that is the owners “pet project” that makes noise all day and night. Confirmed by Sherry. It’s listed as a “tropical glamping” there is nothing tropical about it. It was honestly the worst vacation I have ever had. I truly believe half their reviews are fakes made by themselves, what you see is not what you get with this place. Oh and on top of that, forget trying to contact the owners. They just ghost because they are money hungry.
Amazing stay
10.0Amazing property
− missing a hair dyer
I’m glad I only paid for 2 days, because there’s not much to do.
5.0The air conditioning worked well once it ran for a bit. The bathroom is top notch. Nice hot shower. The hot tub was great. It was nice to have the fire pit and grill with all the things needed to use them. The tarp covering provided good shade over the hot tub.
− I have a list….. the only place to sit down to eat was at a high top table indoors. There really should be a picnic table outside. The refrigerator was tiny, no room for anything in the freezer, and little to no room for transferring our stuff from the cooler. So we still had to constantly get ice from the gas station 6 miles down the road. The living room furniture is very uncomfortable to sit on as a couch or may on as a bed. There was no where else to sit inside, which made for hanging in the AC very uncomfortable. The chairs outside were comfortable, but no where to sit to eat outside. The indoor lights were a challenge. The bathroom lights didn’t work at all. Just the one over the sink. The lights in the living room were sparse, so the ability to see in there was a challenge. There were lots of weeds off the patio in the rock/shell area, those definitely need to be addressed. There are multiple fire ant mounds in the grass, which also caused issues. I wish I would have done more research. This is not in a tropical area at all. It’s at the rear side/end of a private property with nothing to do around. We brought our bikes, but there was nowhere to ride them too. There was nowhere to fish, nothing to see anywhere close. I did not feel like I got my moneys worth. I would not recommend this unless you want to be out in the middle of nowhere and just want to sit around outside. The trash can in the kitchen was tiny, not very useful for typical camping trash. I had to empty it 3 times during our 2 day stay. The tv had no internet, so that was useless. I had to utilize a hot spot to get below average internet access. Never able to use it in the tv. Did I mention this is not “tropical” in any way? I feel like the name of this glamping should be “secluded”, not tropical. Punta Gorda was very empty, not much to do or see. I’m guessing it’s because of the hurricane a few years ago, but that should be mentioned somewhere too.
