Comfortable stay in an historic hotel.
8.0I loved that the building was historic Loved being greeted at the entrance by Mel Loved the added security at the upstairs glassed in foyer/landing Loved the view of the river from my gorgeous old styled bed Loved the electric blanket - thank you. Loved the light from the tall windows Loved how warm the big room was in the afternoon Loved the location Loved that the pizza shop was next door! Loved the privacy
− At around midnight on Thursday night I was startled awake by a wood pecker-like intermittent drilling noise coming from the right upper side of the door. It frightened me at first so I got up to investigate. When I depressed the right side of the with my hand, it stopped. I realised the door didn't fit snuggly into the frame - there was space between it and the door at the top but not at the bottom. I videoed the door to capture the sound - like a woodpecker drilling! I didn't get to sleep until 5 and was exhausted at my cousin's funeral. The second night I folded a piece of cardboard from my box of chips, plugged it into the space in the doorframe and voila! Silence all night! I'll come again but not til summer when the weather is warmer. The heatpump doesnt work and it got chilly.
We enjoyed conversation with Mel the e
5.0There was no breakfast
− The smell of damp on entering the building was off putting as was the large leak in roof which saturated the stair carpet.
We had a nice stay here, it was basic but comfy and well presented and we were warmly greeted.
