We loved everything about Marcella’s House. It was well situated in Hydra, with excellent views across the harbour. The accommodation was homely and comfortable. It provided everything that we required for a most memorable stay on Hydra. The support for Iro (the agent handling the property for its owner) was excellent, from our initial booking via Booking.com to our departure. Thank you, Iro!

− Though it wasn’t an issue for us, people thinking of booking this accommodation need to be mobile and reasonably fit. There are 65 steep steps to the property from the harbour below. It’s absolutely worth the climb though! We would recommend booking a donkey to meet you on your arrival to transport your luggage up to the house (worth it for the photo opportunities alone!). The agent handling the property arranged this for us.

A Beautiful Sanctuary

This home is a true sanctuary. Incredibly beautiful older home, well maintained, fully equipped, and in an ideal location only a few minutes’ walk from the ferry dock, a bakery, museum, etc. Yet, it is in a quiet, isolated part of town with incredible views of the sea and close enough to hear the distant waves lapping on to the rocky shores. The veranda provides mesmerizing, meditative views, day and night, looking over the water and back into the small, enchanted port community of Hydra. The host is the best with helpful, kind and timely communication. A bonus for some is the extensive high mountain trail network dotted with impressive monasteries. This home is a treasure.

Marcella's Artsy Home was incredible - 100% recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay at Marcella’s home! The view was stunning, and the eclectic, artsy décor gave the space so much character. The location couldn’t be better—just steps from the harbor and right above the Maritime Museum. The bed and furniture were very comfortable, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful bedroom layout with a little closet area perfect for suitcases. While the bathroom is a bit older, it was still charming and worked perfectly for our stay. Overall, the home had a wonderful flow and welcoming feel—we truly felt at home here!

− The space could have used a deeper clean, as we noticed some dusty shelves, windows, and a bathroom floor mat that needed attention. We shared this feedback with the host, and they were very responsive—returning promptly to clean again, which we greatly appreciated. She also kindly restocked toilet paper during the visit. While these were minor inconveniences, the host’s quick response made a big difference and helped ensure our stay was still very enjoyable.

We loved Hydra. Shop and taverns were friendly. Very relaxing with beautiful sunsets.

Location, the view, kitchen was well equipped.

− Would have enjoyed chairs on the balcony rather than moving kitchen chairs back and forth.

We loved our time in the house and stayed in several nights to just watch the town and harbour from the balcony.

Fantastic location on the waterfront. Great house with lots of lived-in charm. Generous supply of cooking utensils and facilities. Easy access to all hydra attractions.
