Our home was our castle

Tolle Lage am Shannon. Netter Gastgeber. Ausstattung war perfekt, gemütliches Haus, mit Garten und eigener Schlossruine. Our home was our castle.

Dass wir wieder abreisen mussten.

Location was great, Castle in the back yard, Shannon River at the fence and the Airport just across the river. Was great sitting out the back with the view and watching the minimal planes in the air. Having a Washing Machine and Dryer on site was a massive bonus.

The Shower had no screen,

Very easy. We got held up. The owner waited for us to arrive with the key.

Seems small, but as the weather was a little wet we could have done with a couple of door mats. The floor got dirty very quickly. Other than that the place was great.

A unique property with amazing views and hosts!

Loved the location and atmosphere! A special place to get away from it all! The hosts live on the vast property and were very accommodating and helpful! We decided to take advantage of having a kitchen and cooked in one night, it had everything we needed. It was rainy and cold so we decided to start up the wood stove and it kept us toasty warm while we watched the dolphins swim by! Don’t see that everyday!

The bathroom was a good size but had no shower curtain, so the floor got wet.

Lovely location, cottage had some drawbacks

7.0

Wonderful location and Paul was a very genial welcoming and helpful host. Roomy cottage with very comfortable bed.

We sadly couldn’t agree with the description of luxury. This property was the most expensive we have ever stayed in (€826 for just four nights). The water wasn’t fit to drink or cook with so we had to buy and adapt to using bottled water - not supplied. The boiler was leaking so we had to wash everything in the drawers below before our first meal, having travelled from Galway. There was no dishwasher and the gas kettle was ancient and full of limescale. The towel radiator and pipe leading to the shower head were rusty. There was plenty of hanging space but no chest of drawers to store larger items. The seating in the lounge wasn’t very comfortable and without a Netflix account we had no TV. Most of these things can easily be improved but the cost for a September booking was much too much compared with our stay in Galway in immaculate accommodation which was €100 cheaper for five nights.
