Enjoyable and comfortable stay

9.0

Well furnished and comfortable house.

Knew in advance and understand why but inconvenient not being able to park close to the property particularly as it is hilly. Wine left in property for arrival greatly appreciated but a pint of milk to go with the supplied tea and coffee would have been good. Would have liked to have been able to open bedroom windows.

Very clean, comfortable and well equipped house. Easy walking distance of shops and pubs/ restaurant.

Parking was at a short distance away( uphill!) and cost an additional £25 for each car. The e-mails were covered with a description (" Beautiful House on Peaceful St") which I took to be the name and location, as it was repeated so often. Not "A beautiful house" on "A peaceful street", but Beautiful House, Peaceful St. The actual address was in the small print, which a friend, fortunately, had looked at more closely than I did . Mea culpa. But it was confusing, initially.

Beautiful house in perfect location for exploring Bideford

10.0

Lovely location, immaculately presented, comfortable beds, perfect for a short break as it had everything we needed and more.

The bath towels were a bit small - this is a very minor quibble and did not detract at all from our enjoyment of our stay.

The house was freezing and it was very slow to be fixed. England in February required heat in an old house. Compensation

4.0

Good location, easy access to the bus system for Devon.

No heat for the first 3 days + 2 nights. I was asked by the owner to do the troubleshooting myself, which I was unsuccessful in fixing - I’m not a plumber. Sending a professional immediately would have been a better answer. When it became obvious that the heating system was fried (as per what the plumber who eventually showed up said), a part was replaced. He said there was nothing I could have done to fix it. I requested compensation for the fact that we needed to sit around the living room with duvets from the beds, just to socialize and also the fact that it should never have been my responsibility to troubleshoot, I received a VERY small compensation for the issue. Certainly not worthy of what we dealt with. Cold and rainy weather is easier to deal with when you have a warm house to come home to, our jackets wouldn’t even dry over night hanging on the coat hangers in the house because the house was so cold. They claim that the small compensation was fair because ”at least we had hot water”…..?? Just know that unfortunately if you are in a bind, but are paying big bucks to stay here, you will also be required to be the troubleshooter before help is eventually sent and it could take days.

Property ideal as working in close proximity.

Says free parking on accommodation details but no parking and have to be reliant on street parking away from property. Luckily we were working not too far away and had to park there for security with work vans.
