− It’s the 5th floor and no venting machine and I didn’t have sound have sound machine

Overall, it was an average experience.

The staff were friendly, the location was convenient, and the breakfast was generous and satisfying.

− The soundproofing was poor, and I felt the price was a bit expensive for what was offered. Another inconvenience was that the hostel had 2 floors, and men staying on the fifth floor had to go down to the fourth floor to use the washing facilities.

Basic, cheap accommodation - but check the payment options!

A cheap price for NYC; and the location (near 34th St/Penn station) was very convenient. The staff were always courteous and helpful; and cleaning staff were always on hand to keep things tidy and replenished.

− Their initial communication (when I booked in Jan for an Oct visit) said that I could pay in cash and receive a discount (if I alerted them 24 hours beforehand). I got in touch a few days before my trip (well within the 24-hour and the cancellation periods) and said I'd be paying cash and would hope for the promised discount. They then said that I couldn't pay that way and that payment would be handled by Booking.com. I tried to remonstrate - pointing to their own communication, which I'd agreed to when I booked - but to no avail. Then they took the money from my card early and before the cancellation date. My bank queried whether this was fraud, but the amounts seemed correct so I agreed to the payments (though I wasn't happy that they took the money before my arrival). Only after my bank paid did I receive another message apologising and saying that I could pay in cash after all (I had had the correct amount in dollars all along!). I was really annoyed about this, as I paid an exchange fee when they took the money from my credit card; and when they then reimbursed me (once I arrived at the venue and paid in cash), I paid ANOTHER exchange fee on the reimbursement. I feel I shouldn't have had to pay either of these exchange fees, given that the information offered by the venue was incorrect and that it was entirely their own fault for the mix-up. All in all I'm paying for their staff's own mistake. Not good! I doubt I'll choose to stay with them in future, as you can't guarantee the terms you agree to at the booking will be the same as when you come to take up your place. This is a pity, but "buyer beware"!

Ubicación excelente. Ideal para ir a todos lados caminando! El desayuno está bien, te dan opciones de panes, manteca, leche, café, té, mermelada, muffins, mantequilla de maní, fruta. Vos te preparas a tu gusto. Hay tostadora, heladera y dispenser. Los baños y la habitación muy limpios.

− A pesar de que hay horarios de silencio, muchos huespedes no lo respetan. Te dan tapones para los oídos, pero a veces no es suficiente. Desde las 11 pm a las 7 am se escuchan ruidos. La primer noche me costó muchísimo dormir, después se acomodó. Por otro lado, si te toca habitación en el último piso, tenés que subir 4 pisos de escaleras. Con la valija es un montón! De todos modos para los precios de alojamiento en NY está muy bien.
