Pleasant, convenient accommdation for Dartmoor explorations
9.0Friendly staff and friendly pub patrons who I watched 2 World Cup games with on the big screen set up for the occasion. Peaceful church and cemetery next door; no real shop in the tiny village. Can start there for several rambling routes--to Drogo Castle, River Teign, 360* views from the bare remains of Cranbrook Castle. My "dorm" room was tiny with a bunk bed, kettle, chair, tiny table--probably once a stable--with thick stone walls. Toilet and showers just few outside steps away. Free safe parking. Lovely atmosphere.
− No breakfast facilities--but I knew that ahead so made plans around that. The unexpected--and only unpleasant thing--was the pub kitchen refrigeration units just across from my room that loudly came on for about 10 seconds every 5 minutes 24/7. I was exhausted enough to sleep through the noise at night but, as my sleep became lighter by 4am, the jarring noise woke me and prevented me from going back to sleep--both mornings :-( Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
Pleasant stay, did the job for me and 4 mates. No frills which is fine but a few touches were missin
8.0No fuss bunk room in quaint pub
− A bit basic - no tea or milk with the kettle. No breakfast option.
I would recommend it to anyone.
