Really reasonable price for rooms that were modern and well decorated and the shower was great!

No bin in the toilet.

Excellent location. The room was clean and well laid out , with everything you would need.

Shower and toilet was small but clean and did what you needed.

Apparently for solo male travelers: doable for a night, not the best for a couple

Comfy bed, pillows ok (rather flat). Breakfast nook had tea bags/pods, instant coffee, nesquik, sugar and one pack of two biscuits (cookies). The water kettle is a dispenser that automatically dispenses water as soon as it’s hot, so you have to have a cup under there or water will dispense everywhere (ask me how I know!), but be sure to have the large cups under there because the amount dispensed will spill over the small tea cups capacity. There was a carafe of water for guests, but you can’t refill it anywhere in the room because it won’t fit under the tiny bathroom sink. Tips on these details in a guest information book would be much appreciated. Unfortunately, there is only one chair/seat in the room, so if you're traveling with a partner (like I was), one of you will have to sit on the (carpeted) floor to eat breakfast, unless you don't mind sitting on the bed to eat. We don't eat in the bed, so it was a bit awkward. If you are traveling by bus heading to the Islay ferry, it is very near the bus stop. This is primarily why we chose the property. The bed was comfy, while the pillows were ok. If you don't mind rather flat pillows, then they are acceptable. The Internet was a bright spot—fast and easy to access. This property has lots of potential.

First off, the GPS coordinates are inaccurate, putting you on the other side of the street/highway up the road from where the property truly is. This is not necessarily the host's responsibility, but the signage is not very obvious from the street. I had to call Shamsul (the host) to figure out where the property was. Luckily, he is responsive! There are two keys: the one for the outer door of the building doesn’t actually lock the door. The room door key is an old style skeleton key, which is not reassuring regarding security. The external entrance has a potentially dangerous threshold that nearly tripped me multiple times. It is apparently designed to prevent water entry. I couldn’t figure out how to lock this door. The entry door to the room is hard to open on account of the floor/carpet level right at the door. Upon entering, the bathroom was not clean (3 large spiders, pubic hairs and urine stains on toilet), which leaves one questioning the overall cleanliness of the room. When we arrived, the water had not yet been turned back on, so Shamsul had to come by for that. After notifying him about the state of the bathroom and inquiring who would clean the bathroom for us, he cleaned the bathroom. We shouldn't have had to ask. The room smelled of must and repair work (construction materials). There was no hair dryer. The shower is tiny if you’re taller than 6 feet tall (~180cm). A visitor guide on how to use the shower controls would be useful. It was unclear how the towel warmer and indoor heaters work, so a section on that in a visitor guide would also be useful—especially in winter. There was no waste bin in the bedroom— only in the bathroom. The room curtains were ok and provide basic privacy from the street, but little more. They let in a LOT of summer light (when sunset is after 10pm), so bring a sleep mask if you need darkness to sleep. It would be nice if they kept light out more efficiently.

Located very near the sea front in Tarbert. Rooms well appointed. Great communication from the owner. Quiet location.

No parking at the property. No kitchen. We were aware of these before we booked. Bathroom quite small if you are a larger person.
