A welcome in the woods!
4.0Geoff was very friendly and hospitable, and welcomed us with a cup of tea. We also received a very warm welcome by Alice, their friendly and energetic dog.! The location was enchanting, though somewhat tricky to find! For guests able to go walking, there are plenty of foot paths to explore in the surrounding woods, part owned by the National Trust. The bed was comfortable and there was a large flat screen tv mounted on the wall. A good feature was the breakfast room, with a fridge and kettle available for guests to use. We were entertained during breakfast by the pet parrot, an excellent mimic! Sadly, we were only there for one breakfast and one and a half nights as our visit was cut short due to illness. Our best wishes to Geoff and Ann, and our thanks for their hospitality.
− I had informed the B&B when booking that I had limited mobility due to Parkinson's and needed to use a rollator and was assured all was OK, but it soon became clear that the venue was unsuitable for disabled visitors. The path to the front door was very uneven and there was a difficult step to climb by the front door. The bathroom, separate from the bedroom, was fine for an able bodied person, but to use the shower you had to climb into the steep sided bath., impossible for me.The toilet seemed very low, and without a side rail was difficult to use. It would have been nice to have a couple of comfortable chairs in the bedroom, but it was not big enough to accommodate them. My wife and I were the only guests, but if a second bedroom was in use, it would have meant sharing the bathroom, OK for a family but otherwise unacceptable. I don’t wish to be negative, Geoff has worked hard to make the venue attractive and was very helpful, but I am just pointing out some changes that would be needed in order to improve accessibility.
